Aamir Khan is praised not just for his dedication to his work but also for the care he takes in choosing parts that would enable him to make an impression on the audience that lasts. For this very reason, many were surprised when Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan failed to attract enough applicants. Despite having top talent and a huge budget, the movie failed to live up to the expectations of the audience.

In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Aamir said it was difficult to play the female lead. Several well-known actresses declined the job before Fatima Sana Shaikh accepted it. During the conversation, Aamir recalled that no female actor approved of the casting process. “Deepika, Alia, and Shraddha all declined. The entire business was given the opportunity to work on that movie, but nobody wanted to,” he remarked. When questioned if the quality of the script might have been the reason, Aamir replied that it might have been.

The director of Dangal believed that since Fatima had portrayed Aamir’s daughter in the film, it would be wise to reject the romance plot between them because the audience wouldn’t be open to it.

Aamir disagreed with it, though. “Asal mein main uska boyfriend hun, aur na asal mein thode uska baap hun.” Aamir remarked, “Hum log film bana rahe hain bhai.” The actor added credence to his argument by stating that people are not foolish for assuming that Aamir is Fatima’s biological father. “If we say that, we are underestimating our audience.
