In the Hindi film industry, Dia Mirza is a well-known actress who is respected for her grace, beauty, and honesty. Her career began in beauty pageants, but she quickly transitioned into acting, which greatly increased her notoriety. The actress has never shied away from sharing candid details about her relationships with other family members in real life, even in the midst of the spotlight. The actress’s relationship with her stepdaughter, Samaira Rekhi, has garnered media attention recently. In contrast to traditional hostility, the two have a friendly relationship. But the actress said in a recent interview that things weren’t like this in the early days of their relationship.
Dia Mirza is the stepmother of Vaibhav Rekhi’s daughter Samaira from his previous marriage and is married to him. The actress mentioned in a recent interview with The Official People of India how she considers herself lucky to have avoided reading fairy tales that depict her stepmother or stepfather as villains. Dia related that memory to a humorous observation. According to her, her stepdaughter was also impacted by those tales and kept her phone in her contacts as a “not yet evil stepmother.”
Dia stated, recalling the memory: “This brings me to Samaira, who has saved my number on her phone as – Dia, not yet the evil stepmother. That’s what fairy tales do, right? I wonder if she’s changed the description under my name.”
Dia spoke warmly of her relationship with her stepfather, Ahmed Mirza, as she talked about her early years. The actress revealed that she had no predetermined negative opinion of her stepfather, even though she was only six years old when her mother remarried. Rather she accepted him and began referring to him as ‘abba’ right away. However, she and her mother transformed her stepfather into an expressive individual who readily touched and loved.
The actress recalled her most recent encounter with him, saying: “I remember the last time I met him in Hyderabad before I went to an overseas shoot, during which time he passed away (in 2003). I’ll never forget the hug he gave me and the tears he had in his eyes as he said goodbye.

Dia Mirza:
Dia Mirza previously revealed in an interview with News 18 that her stepdaughter does not use the pronouns “maa” or “mumma” to refer to her. Rather, Samaira refers to her mother by those titles and addresses the actress by name. However, Dia never put any pressure on her to be referred to as a mother. But it had a humorous effect since her four-year-old son, Avyaan, also started calling her “Dia mom.”
