Actress Neha Sharma is set to return with the much-anticipated third season of the courtroom drama Illegal. Known for her remarkable roles in various films, Sharma continues to captivate audiences with her performances. In addition to her acting career, Neha supports her father, Ajit Sharma, who is the current Congress Legislative Party leader in Bihar, by actively campaigning for him.
Recently, Neha Sharma addressed whether her father’s political connections have influenced her career in the film industry. She clarified that her journey in Bollywood has remained unaffected by her father’s political background.
In an interview with India Today, Neha shared that her father’s political career began around the same time she entered Bollywood. “I started in Bollywood around 15 years back and my dad won his first election in 2014,” she explained. This timeline indicates that her career was already established before her father’s political ascent.
Neha emphasized that her father’s political affiliation has never cast a shadow on her career. She noted that during the early stages of her career, her father wasn’t a prominent political figure, which prevented any potential bias or assumptions from influencing her opportunities in the film industry.
Addressing whether individuals from the opposition might have taken issue with her campaigning for her father, Neha reiterated that her career has always been driven by her talent and dedication. She highlighted that her support for her father is a personal choice, akin to any child supporting their parents, and is not meant to promote a specific political party or ideology.
Neha underscored that she has consistently been cast based on her abilities and hopes this merit-based recognition continues. She firmly believes that her professional achievements are the result of her hard work and not her father’s political stature.
Furthermore, Neha addressed the challenge of not securing substantial roles, attributing it to filmmakers’ preferences for working with friends and familiar faces. She stated, “That’s how it works in every industry. It’s more fun to work with people you know, and are friends with.” Neha made it clear that she doesn’t believe her father’s political background has ever disadvantaged her in the industry.
