Release of Part 2 of Mahavatar Narsimha: Since its premiere, Mahavatar Narsimha, Ashwin Kumar’s directorial debut, has shattered a number of box office records. Being the highest-grossing animated film in the country and the first animated Hindi film to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore mark, the renowned epic is a beacon of hope for the future of Indian animation cinema. In an exclusive interview with LiveMint, Chaluve Gowda, co-founder of Hombale Films, the production company of Mahavatar Narsimha, and Kleem Productions, disclosed the release date of the second installment of the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe.
“It gives me great pleasure to introduce Mahavatar Narsimha. We knew we had something strong when we first met director Ashwin Kumar and Shilpa (Kleem Productions), but we never thought it would have this much of an impact. The audience’s love has beyond all expectations. Chaluve Gowda, as cited by LiveMint, stated, “As a studio, we believed in the storytelling and the vision, but the way it has connected across generations has been deeply humbling.”
Gowda responded, “Yes, it crossed the Kantara Hindi version,” when asked if Mahavatar Narsimha had outperformed Kantara in terms of revenue. In any case, Hombale Films is proud of this moment. Mahavatar Narsimha and Kantara originate from quite diverse artistic backgrounds; Narasimha is based on epic mythology, while Kantara is steeped in folklore. While the connection is understandable, our goal with each film is to push the envelope, and we are appreciative of how enthusiastically audiences have welcomed both.”
Gowda responded, “The team learned a lot during the making of the first film; technically, creatively, and logistically,” when asked if fans will have to wait longer for the second installment. Without a doubt, the next chapter will arrive sooner. I can promise you that Ashwin Kumar is already well along in his development and that Chapter Two will be released in two years.
