Humaira is believed to have passed away almost two weeks prior to the discovery of her body, according to police officials. The finding was made after her landlord filed for eviction after being unable to get in touch with her and worried about missed rent. Gizri police went to the apartment in the Ittehad Commercial neighborhood as instructed by the court. Officers pushed their way inside the locked apartment, which was smelling bad, when they got no response at 3:15 p.m.

In a statement to the Pakistani news portal Images, South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza verified that the residence was locked from the inside, including the balcony door. No immediate indications of foul play were found at the scene, according to the police.

After bringing in forensic specialists from the Crime Scene Unit to collect evidence, Humaira’s body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for additional medical and legal analysis. The advanced condition of decomposition was confirmed by JPMC police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, who added, “The cause of death remains reserved.” Police are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the precise cause of death as part of an ongoing inquiry.

According to reports, Humaira had been living alone in the rental unit for a number of months without making monthly payments. By looking through her cell phone records, police are currently trying to locate her family.
