Rupali Ganguly, an actor, criticized prejudice against television and urged for TV actors to be honored at national award shows. Her comments followed the announcement of the most recent National Film Awards. Several movie stars, including Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, were honored at the event. She said that while Bollywood enjoys the spotlight, TV performers’ efforts go mostly unrecognized.

“There are National Awards for everyone—film stars, content creators,” Ganguly stated candidly in an interview with the paparazzi account Viral Bhayani. For TV actors, however, there is nothing. We continued to work despite the Covid-19 epidemic. It makes news when a movie star works nonstop. However, nobody discussed how we TV artists worked around the clock throughout the pandemic. I ask that the government acknowledge our contributions as well. We put in a lot of effort at work.

She also discussed how a new age of attention for TV performers may be ushered in by the return of actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani to the small screen.

“The latest iteration of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi marked Smriti Irani’s comeback to television. My show is on the same channel as it. “Her return will increase awareness of TV actors and those in the television business,” Ganguly said.

‘Anupamaa’ has made Ganguly a household name. In terms of television ratings, the program has continuously been at the top. Viewers of all demographics have found resonance with her show.
