Sargun Mehta Shares the Heart and Hard Work Behind Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan’s Casting
If you’ve been waiting for a television drama that tugs at your heartstrings while delivering layered storytelling, Zee TV’s Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan is about to become your next favorite. Premiering on 22nd September at 9 PM, this show isn’t just another family saga—it’s an emotional celebration of resilience, dignity, and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her daughters.
A Mother’s Strength, A Daughters’ Journey
Adapted from Zee Kannada’s critically acclaimed Puttakana Makkalu, the story follows Ganga Mai, a woman abandoned by her husband for not bearing a son. But instead of succumbing to despair, she chooses to raise her three daughters with unwavering grace and determination. Set against the soulful backdrop of Varanasi, the narrative shines a spotlight on courage, survival, and love that defies societal expectations.
Sargun Mehta’s Six-Month Casting Marathon
Producer-actor Sargun Mehta, co-founder of Dreamiyata, revealed that the process behind bringing these characters to life was no easy feat.
“We have had 35 characters casting and it was the toughest we’ve ever had—taking about six months. But we found the perfect actor for every role, even the smallest ones. The idea is to make the world of the show come alive, not just the lead characters,” Sargun shared.
Her dedication to authenticity means that each character, whether a lead or supporting role, has been crafted with equal love and attention. This is what makes Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan more than just a show—it’s a living, breathing world filled with stories you’ll connect to.

Why This Show Feels Special
Sargun adds,
> “I’m really fond of several actors, and every time I see their scenes, I smile. I’m excited to see if the audience feels the same way. We’ve put our heart and soul into this project, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
This passion is exactly why fans can expect a drama that feels raw, emotional, and deeply human.
