After a protracted fight with cancer, actress Priya Marathe died on August 31, 2025, at the young age of 38. The television industry is in grief for her tragic loss. Priya, who is well-known for her work on Hindi and Marathi television, left behind a wealth of memories with her co-stars in addition to an amazing body of work.

Veteran actress Usha Nadkarni, who costarred with Priya on the legendary serial Pavitra Rishta, has now reminisced about her time with Priya and expressed how deeply the news of her passing has affected her.

“Humare Pavitra Rishta mein bahut saare Marathi artists the, unmein se ek thi Priya Marathe,” Nadkarni stated in an interview with Mid-Day. Par zyada bolti nahi thi, sab logon jaisi thi. Lekin zyada faltugiri nahi karti thi saath hansi-mazaak karti thi. Shaant ladki thi, achhe svabhav ki woh bahut achhe. “Matlab rakhti thi apne kaam se.”

As she recalled her co-star, Nadkarni fell down in tears, saying, “Lekin mujhe samajh nahi aata, Bhagwan aisa kyun karta hai.” Uske jaane ki kya umar hai? “Abhi woh achhi hai mujhe laga tha.”

The actress further disclosed that her Pavitra Rishta co-star Ankita Lokhande informed her of Priya’s declining health. Priya’s husband, Shantanu, asked Nadkarni not to come because Priya had lost her hair during chemotherapy and didn’t want anyone to see her in that condition. Nadkarni revealed that she had wished to meet Priya in her last days.

In the TV industry, Priya Marathe was a well-known figure. She became well-known for playing Varsha Satish Deshpande in Pavitra Rishta, in which she costarred with Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput. Priya quickly gained widespread recognition for her nuanced performances.

In addition to Pavitra Rishta, she made appearances in well-known series like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. Priya was also involved in Marathi theater, cinema, and television, where her adaptability and commitment to her work were highly valued.
