Aamir stated in an open discussion on Aap Ki Adalat that the movie does not aim to disparage any religion. Milenge har dharam mein aise log aapko. Aisa kar rahe hain unse bach ke raho (We’re not against any religion) is the purpose of the movie. We respect all religions and all religious people. The movie warns us to be wary of people who use religion to deceive the general public in order to take advantage of them. People like that exist in all religions. That was all the movie was about. Therefore, avoid those kind.

“Sabse pehle toh main ye kahunga ki jab bhi koi log do dharam ke, ek saath aatey hain, unke man main prem hota hain aur wo shaadi karna chahte hain,” Aamir added in response to the claims of love jihad against PK. Love jihad nahi hota har dafa woh. Insaniyat ki baat hain, kabhi ho jata hain mann kabhi ho dharmo ke logo ka. When two individuals of different religions fall in love and want to marry, it’s not always love jihad. Jab do mann milte hain, toh ye dharam ke upar ho jaati hain. They happen to love one another, and their union is a simple act of humanity. It transcends religion.

Aamir went on to provide examples from his own family, stating that his younger sister Farhat is married to Rajeev Dutta and his sister Nikhat is married to Santosh Hegde. After that, his daughter Ira married Nupur Shikhare.
