Known affectionately as the Kaanta Laga girl, Shefali Jariwala died on June 27, 2025, at the age of 42, in her Mumbai home, apparently from a heart attack. Shefali is a model and actress who rose to fame overnight after making her breakthrough performance in the 2002 music video for Kaanta Laga. The late actress married music composer Harmeet Singh of the well-known Meet Bros. team in 2009 before divorcing actor Parag Tyagi in 2014. Harmeet, Shefali’s grieving ex-husband, spoke about their last lengthy chat after Shefali passed away.

Even though Shefali and Harmeet had a tumultuous marriage—the actress even accused the music director of emotional abuse—they eventually grew close and put their prior differences behind them. Harmeet recalled the last time he had a lengthy and genuinely emotional talk with Shefali, which was during a flight back home, in a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani.

According to a quote from the musician: “I remember going to Bangladesh for a show about two to three years ago. Sunny Leone, Shefali, and I flew back together in a private plane. Shefali and I sat next to each other and spoke for quite a long time… The fact that Shefali is no more is shattering.”

The business was shocked when Shefali Jariwala died on June 27, 2025, after apparently going into heart arrest. Her husband, Parag Tyagi, conducted her final ceremonies in the Oshiwara crematorium after her death. Harmeet Singh, her ex-husband, honored her memory and expressed his regret at not being able to join her on her last voyage.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Harmeet wrote: “One of the most shocking moments of my life. I’m absolutely shattered and in disbelief after hearing about Shefali’s sudden and untimely demise. We shared a few beautiful years together a long time ago — memories I’ll always hold close to my heart. My deepest condolences to her parents, Satish ji and Sunita ji, her husband Parag, and her sister Shivani. Being away in Europe right now, it’s painful for me not to be there for the last rites. Gone far too soon. I pray to the Almighty for her soul to rest in peace and for strength to her family during this unimaginable time. Jai Shree Krishna.”

Shefali Jariwala:Shefali Jariwala

Given that Shefali Jariwala was in perfect condition and was even getting ready for a Satyanarayan puja at home, the cause of her unexpected death is being investigated. A video of the 42-year-old actress-model dancing to the music of Kaanta Laga went viral online while the industry laments her premature death. This was likely her final performance of the famous song that gave her a household name, and it was recorded just three weeks ago at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.
