Political figures and celebrities are taking sides in the Kunal Kamra controversy, which has turned into a wildfire. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta and actress-politician Kangana Ranaut are two of the most well-known figures who have clashed since the incident, and this has brought up some of Kangana’s previous subjects. Kunal made a joke on Eknath Shinde, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, during the performance.
Following the joke, the BMC vandalized and eventually destroyed the studio where Kunal Kamra played. The incident was denounced by Hansal Mehta, who has been outspoken about it. However, some questioned why he didn’t defend Kangana Ranaut during the demolition of her home. This sparked a heated back-and-forth between Kangana and the director.
In addition, Kangana Ranaut reposted Hansal Mehta’s tweet, in which she described how she endured insults and saw her house demolished. She disclosed that her home was unlawfully demolished and that she had received threats. Hansal was further criticized by her, who termed him resentful and dimwitted. She also requested that he avoid getting involved in any issues pertaining to her struggles. When she tweeted, Hansal replied, “Get well soon.” According to Kangana’s tweet:
“They called me names like h***r, threatened me, served notice late in the night to my watchman, and the next morning before courts could open, bulldozers demolished the entire house. The high court called the demolition completely illegal. They laughed at it and raised a toast to my pain and public humiliation. It seems your insecurity and mediocrity have not only made you bitter and stupid, but it has blinded you as well. It’s not some third class series or atrocious films that you make, don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas here in the matters related to my ordeals, stay out of it.”
Hansal Mehta criticized society for denying comedians the opportunity to express their opinions, citing a tweet from an unverified user. The one unverified account, on the other hand, brazenly used foul language. Hansal’s hypocrisy was questioned by a user who wanted to know where he was when Kangana’s house was destroyed. Hansal used X once more and sent the following tweet: “Was her house vandalised? Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don’t know the facts.

Kangana Ranaut:
The 2020 incident is the source of the questions being asked. At the time, sources claimed that parts of Kangana Ranaut’s Bandra bungalow were illegally demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which was run by Uddhav Thackeray, the previous chief minister of Maharashtra. Nonetheless, there were rumors that her verbal sparring with Uddhav and the Shiv Sena was the reason behind the demolition. Hansal expressed his support for Kunal Kamra on March 25, 2025, and recalled how he was beaten and made to issue an apology for his 2000 movie Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar. Then-undivided Shiv Sena vandalized his office, he also recalled.
