Since a video of Shehnaaz Gill’s chat with an entrepreneur went viral online, she has been at the center of controversy. The video shows Shehnaaz reacting to a woman who approaches her and offers to be the spokesperson for her hair care line. Netizens, however, took offense with her response and accused her of being conceited.
The actress quickly replies, “Aap ke paise hai mujhe dene ke liye?” when the woman in the video eagerly asks Shehnaaz whether she would promote her brand. Have you have any money? Unfazed, the business owner jokes that she can pay her immediately. But Shehnaaz jokes, “You can’t afford me,” and then tells her to talk to her management, saying, “Vo raha mera manager, you can talk to him.”
Social media users were not amused, but the entrepreneur took it in stride and joked around. Shehnaaz’s tone came seen as unpleasant and contemptuous, and many people attacked her for what they saw as an arrogant mentality. A commenter said, “YOU CAN’T AFFORD ME? Who is she? What has caused her to be so conceited? “Even if it was a joke, it was unnecessary,” said another. Some questioned her behavior toward someone who approached her with respect, even going so far as to term her a “ghamandi aurat” (arrogant woman).
Shehnaaz is still quite popular in spite of the criticism. Her most recent appearance was in the music video for Sajna Ve Sajna, which featured Sunidhi Chauhan and Divya Kumar and received millions of views on the internet. She further solidified her reputation in the entertainment sector by showcasing her glitzy image and stunning dance talents in the video.
After becoming well-known for her time on Bigg Boss 13, Shehnaaz made her Bollywood debut in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023), starring Salman Khan. In the same year, she starred in Bhumi Pednekar’s Thank You For Coming, although her Bollywood career hasn’t taken off yet.
