Sunil Lahri, renowned for his role as Laxman in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan recently voiced his disappointment with the citizens of Ayodhya for not voting for the BJP. Lahri emphasized that it was under the BJP’s leadership that the Ram temple in Ayodhya was inaugurated in January, highlighting the party’s efforts in realizing this significant project.

On June 4, the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 were announced. In the Faizabad constituency of Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad emerged victorious, while BJP’s Lallu Singh lost. This result was unexpected for many BJP supporters, including Sunil Lahri.

On Wednesday, Sunil Lahri took to social media to express his disappointment. He shared multiple posts on Instagram, criticizing the voters of Ayodhya. In one post, he remarked on the historical tendency of Ayodhya’s citizens to betray their leaders, likening their current political choices to doubting Goddess Sita after her return from exile.

In another post, Lahri condemned the citizens of Ayodhya, suggesting that they lacked respect for their own history and heritage. He accused them of betraying not just political leaders but also the religious sentiments tied to Lord Ram’s temple. Lahri’s harsh words reflected his deep sense of betrayal and frustration.

Sunil Lahri went further by comparing the people of Ayodhya to Katappa, a character from the film Baahubali known for betraying his king. Lahri drew parallels between Katappa’s actions and the voters’ choice to support the Samajwadi Party, suggesting a betrayal of their cultural and spiritual legacy.

Lahri’s posts also highlighted what he saw as a historical pattern of betrayal by Ayodhya’s citizens. He argued that their actions in the recent elections were consistent with past instances where they had betrayed their leaders and even divine figures, thus failing to uphold their sacred duties.
