Shraddha Das Gets Real About Her Transformation for ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case’ — “They Didn’t Even Let Me Wear Kajal!”

Actress Shraddha Das, known for her bold and glamorous roles across Hindi and South cinema, is all set to surprise audiences once again — this time in a completely new avatar. After her powerful performances in Khakee: The Bihar and Bengal Chapter and Sanam Teri Kasam, Shraddha is now stepping into the intriguing world of Rohan Sippy’s murder mystery series, Search: The Naina Murder Case, streaming soon on Jio Hotstar.

In this gripping thriller produced by Applause Entertainment**, Shraddha plays Raksha, a politician’s campaign manager — a woman who’s sharp, ambitious, and manipulative, yet deeply human with her own insecurities and emotional scars.

Talking about her character, Shraddha shared,

> “There are several simultaneous tracks running in the show, and I am part of the political angle, playing a politician’s campaign manager. She is a shrewd, ambitious person, but there are layers to her as a person. She’s also insecure and vulnerable in certain areas of her life. I loved playing Raksha — she’s integral to the narrative.”

The No-Makeup Rule That Became a Running Joke!

Shraddha, who has appeared in films across six languages, from Dil Toh Bachha Hai Ji to Arya 2, revealed that her look in this series is drastically different from anything she’s done before.

She said,

> “Given the character of a political campaign manager, I had a cotton sari-clad simple look with neatly tied hair. The makeup team was told to put the least amount of makeup possible.”

But what caught everyone’s attention was a hilarious on-set story about her kajal!

> “On day one, I secretly put on a bit of kajal to define my eyes, but it was immediately removed. Rohan Sippy sir and our DOP Murzy sir made sure I didn’t wear any! Since I tried it a couple of times, I was even nicknamed ‘Kajal’ on set!”

She laughs, adding,

> “I’m glad they insisted on that natural look — it fits perfectly with the political tone of my character and looks great on screen.”
