Despite the excitement, “Sikander” had somewhat disappointing first-day box office results for a Salman Khan film. The A Murugadoss-directed film brought in a respectable Rs 26 crore on its first day, according to a report from box office tracker Sacnilk.
Even though this is definitely a significant gain over the Rs 13 crore first-day receipts of his previous film, “Kisi Ka Bhai, Kisi Ki Jaan,” it still doesn’t match the incredible Rs 53 crore first-day receipts of “Tiger 3.”
The movie’s overall Hindi occupancy on Sunday was 20.95% in 2D and 22.96% in IMAX 2D.
Chennai had the highest Sikandar occupancy rate at 46.67%, followed by Bengaluru at 28%, according to Sacnilk. Mumbai recorded 20.67%, Hyderabad 22%, and the NCR region 21%, while Jaipur and Kolkata recorded 24.67%.
Under the direction of renowned director A. Murugadoss, who is most known for directing the 2008 Aamir Khan blockbuster Ghajini, Sikander vividly depicts the compelling story of Sanjay Rajkot, a strong leader from Rajkot, Gujarat. Because of his unwavering pursuit of justice, he is feared by his enemies but revered by many, earning him the intimidating title of Sikander. But when his cherished wife, Saisri, sadly dies in a terrible explosion, his seemingly unstoppable life falls apart.
Sanjay discovers that Saisri decided to give her organs, giving several strangers the gift of life, as he tries to deal with his overwhelming grief. He embarks on an emotionally charged journey after this realization, driven to find the people who now harbor a part of her. He struggles with sadness during this deep trip, looks for comfort, and eventually discovers a new purpose in the midst of his loss.
The film was made on a lavish canvas and is said to have been supported by a huge budget of ₹200 crore, making it one of the most ambitious motion picture projects in recent years. The ensemble cast, which includes Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and the renowned Tamil veteran Sathyaraj, supports Aamir Khan in the title role. All of them contribute depth and subtlety to their roles.
