Review:
The film starts with Gulshan, played by Aamir Khan, who is angry and self-centered, not taking others seriously in his life despite their love for him. During a basketball match, he punches his senior coach and that night, in a drunken state, breaks rules and disrespects the police, leading to his arrest. The next day, a judge gives him an unexpected punishment: coaching intellectually disabled persons.
Initially, Gulshan refuses but agrees when told he’ll have to pay a hefty fine. Meanwhile, his personal life is strained; his wife, Suneeta, loves him and wants a child, but Gulshan is hesitant due to fears of not being a good father or having a child with Down syndrome.
When Gulshan meets the intellectually disabled players, he’s shocked and decides to quit. However, after learning about their struggles and stories, he becomes attached and focused, helping them win matches.
As they progress to the semifinals and finals, financial struggles arise. Gulshan and Suneeta find a way to secure funds for the team by blackmailing Karim’s boss, who exploits Karim’s labor. They reach Mumbai, and Gulshan, who was initially scared to ride in a lift, finds courage through his players.

During the final match, Gulshan’s team faces tough competition, but he gives them strategic advice, and they improve their ranks.
The film teaches us that we’re no one to judge anyone for their conditions; in the world, every person has their own story. Not only does Gulshan get helped by them for the match, but they also help him in other ways.
The movie focuses on showing a real story about people with Down syndrome and how the world judges them. The direction, storytelling, and VFX were on point, but the script’s lack of originality is notable. The acting was good overall, although Aamir Khan seemed a bit desperate at times, and I felt some overacting from him.
Sitaare Zameen Par:
To be honest, if you’ve watched the film “Champion,” your mind might say not to watch “Sitaare Zameen Par” due to its similarities. However, you can watch it once for its Bollywood masala and melodrama elements, which might make the film more enjoyable.
