She lived in Mumbai and he used to reside in Hyderabad, but one day she hosted an Instagram Ask Me Anything session when a fan questioned her about why she didn’t follow Naga Chaitanya. She recalled the event and stated:

“I found out during an Ask Me Anything. I was sifting through the questions when I saw one that asked, ‘Why aren’t you following Chay Akkineni?’ I was like, ‘What?’ So I went to his profile and saw that he was following only around 70 people, including me. I was a tiny bit flattered, so I followed him back.”

When she noticed that the Laal Singh Chaddha actor co-owned the pan-Asian cloud kitchen Shoyu, she started to notice his posts on her feed after following him. After exchanging texts, Chay made the decision to meet Sobhita in April 2022 and arranged for a journey to Mumbai so they could have breakfast together. Since the Night Manager actress was situated in Mumbai, she had no intention of relocating or getting married to a showbiz person until Chay changed her mind. “We build up all these walls, but ultimately, when you feel seen, moved and beheld, you just want to lean into the feeling.”

Sobhita expressed her admiration for Naga Chaitanya’s “clear-headed, even-keeled, and optimistic” qualities in the same interview. Additionally, she was in a stage of her work where she was prepared to start a family, and everything came into place. However, she wanted to sit with her feelings for a while before revealing them to the world, so she didn’t want to publicly acknowledge or deny it. They were blessed by their elders when she met his parents, Nagarjuna Akkineni. Thus, Naga Chaitanya knelt down and asked Sobhita Dhulipala to marry him. The couple got married in a traditional ceremony at Hyderabad’s Annapurna Studios on December 4, 2024, after Nagarjuna announced their engagement.
