A well-known actor, Bobby Deol has had many highs and lows throughout their career. In movies like Animal, Ajnabee, Soldier, and others, the actor has won over fans with his captivating on-screen persona, diligence, and adaptability. However, his fame and his status as the son of renowned actor Dharmendra could not shield him from failure and difficult times in the entertainment industry. Bobby Deol’s removal from Jab We Met, a movie he helped Imtiaz Ali start, was one of the most tragic events in his career. Although Bobby lost out on a significant career breakthrough, the movie went on to leave a lasting impression on viewers. He described the behind-the-scenes changes in a recent interview.

Bobby Deol sat down for an interview with Instant Bollywood after becoming famous again with his latest movie. He talked candidly throughout the interview about a lesser-known period of his career in which he was instrumental in making Jab We Met a reality. Although he acknowledged that he wasn’t personally offered the movie, he was instrumental in seeing it through to completion alongside Imtiaz Ali. The actor clarified that he urged Imtiaz to write it after noticing its unfinished hurry.

He stated: “I saw its rush print. I caught Imtiaz and said, ‘Look, your film hasn’t been released yet; it’s only halfway done. I’m working with you, so write the script.’ So, he started writing the script for me. I tried really hard to make that film (Jab We Met) happen; I reached out to a lot of people.”

Bobby put a lot of effort into assembling the ideal team and asked producers like Ashtavinayak for it, but they originally turned him down. However, Bobby persisted in his efforts because he was close to Imtiaz. Bobby set up a meeting with Kareena Kapoor when the producer expressed interest in her, but she turned down the script. Additionally, Preity Zinta stated that she will do the movie later even though she wasn’t interested in shooting it at the time. But despite Bobby’s best efforts, the same producer cut him out of the movie.

Bobby Deol:

Bobby Deol said in the same interview that he was saddened by the way things turned out and devastated when the movie went ahead without him. He does not, however, hold Imtaiz Ali responsible because he had his own constraints. As a result, the actor believes that perhaps the movie wasn’t intended for him.
