Mishkat Verma has always impressed audiences with his effortless charm, but his latest role as Om Vajpayee in COLORS’ new show Ram Bhavan takes his acting journey to a whole new level. Playing a street-smart and jugaadu character was no easy feat, especially since Om is completely different from who he is in real life.
To make the role as authentic as possible, Mishkat spent a month in Prayagraj, soaking in the city’s unique vibe, dialect, and energy. But filming there wasn’t just about getting into character—it was a test of endurance, with intense heat and long hours pushing him to his limits.
Mishkat Verma on His Transformation into Om Vajpayee
Speaking about his experience, Mishkat revealed,
“Om, the character I portray, is nothing like me, and that’s what made this role so exhilarating. I’m grateful for the opportunity to shoot in Prayagraj, a city I’ll always remember for its hospitality and uplifting energy.”
To fully embody Om’s persona, Mishkat immersed himself in the local culture. He walked through the bustling streets, listened to the way people spoke, and even picked up elements of the regional dialect. His goal? To bring Om Vajpayee to life in the most realistic way possible.
“The people of Prayagraj may seem simple, but they have a unique ‘swag’ of their own. I infused that into my portrayal of Om,” he shared.
The Challenges of Shooting in Prayagraj
While the experience was enriching, it wasn’t without its challenges. The scorching heat made long shooting hours even more grueling. However, Mishkat found ways to make the most of his time there.
Beyond the demanding schedule, he took moments to explore the city’s historical and cultural landmarks. From the spiritual aura of Triveni Sangam to the grandeur of Allahabad Fort, every place offered a new perspective—one that helped him connect even more with his character.
“Traveling through Prayagraj with my character’s perspective was a completely different experience,” Mishkat reflected.
And of course, no visit to Prayagraj is complete without indulging in its famous street food! Chaat, thandai, and kulfi became his guilty pleasures, adding to the richness of his experience.
What’s Happening in Ram Bhavan?
The current storyline in Ram Bhavan is heating up! Om unknowingly triggers Gayatri’s anger by starting the aarti without her. As a consequence, she cuts everyone’s expenses and challenges Om to survive solely on his earnings.
But just as Om navigates this difficult situation, fate brings him face-to-face with Isha setting the stage for an exciting new twist in the show.
