A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) requesting a comprehensive probe into the murders of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager, Disha Salian, is scheduled to be heard by the Bombay High Court on February 19. Through its president, Rashid Khan Pathan, the “Supreme Court & High Court Litigants Association of India” filed the PIL, requesting that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detain and question Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray in relation to the cases. Additionally, the motion asks the court to order the CBI to provide a thorough report.
With Aditya Thackeray submitting an intervention application, claiming that the court ought to hear his case before issuing any orders, the PIL has garnered a lot of attention. Since the state authorities are already looking into the matter, Thackeray has argued that the PIL cannot be maintained. These arguments are anticipated to be discussed at the hearing on February 19 in order to decide the course of the continuing inquiry.
For those who do not know, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered dead in his Bandra flat. After Rajput’s father filed a complaint in Bihar, claiming that the actor’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and her family had assisted in his suicide, the Mumbai police first filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) but eventually turned the investigation over to the CBI. Since then, the CBI has been looking into the matter, but they haven’t come to any firm conclusions.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is probing reports of drug use, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating allegations of money laundering involving Rhea and her family in addition to the CBI investigation. On June 8, 2020, Rajput’s former manager, Disha Salian, passed away following a fall from the fourteenth storey of a Malad residential building. Her complaint was also filed as an ADR, and the Malwani police are still looking into it.
