A Story of Truth, Betrayal & Friendship
At the heart of The Waking of a Natio is Kantilal Sahni, played by Taaruk Raina, a lawyer who finds himself tangled in the British Empire’s manipulative web. As the Hunter Commission—set up to investigate the Jallianwala Bagh massacre—twists the truth to favor the colonizers, Kantilal and his childhood friends, Ali Allahbaksh (Sahil Mehta), Hari Singh Aulakh (Bhawsheel Singh), and Poonam (Nikita Dutta), face an impossible choice: fight the system or be silenced by it.
This historical thriller will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, where justice seems like an illusion, and power is the ultimate weapon.
Ram Madhvani on His Vision for the Series
Speaking about his inspiration behind The Waking of a Nation, Ram Madhvani shared:
> “I have always been deeply interested in colonialism and, by extension, the issues of racism and prejudice. As I was contemplating my next project, I knew it had to be rooted in our past, in the British Raj, and in our freedom struggle. That’s when the idea for The Waking of a Nation came to life.”
Known for his gripping storytelling in Aarya and Neerja, Madhvani promises a riveting mix of history, politics, and personal struggles.
