In a car collision on National Highway 9 in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, singer and Indian Idol 12 winner Pawandeep Rajan suffered critical injuries.
The incident happened next to the Gajraula police station’s CO office at around three in the morning. When the tragedy occurred, Pawandeep and two other people were on their way to Delhi from Champawat, Uttarakhand, for a program.
Police said that Pawandeep was traveling in an MG Hector when it collided with a parked Eicher Canter from behind. According to Akhilesh Pradhan, in-charge of the Gajraula police station, the car “hit a parked Eicher Canter from behind.”
Along for the ride were Rahul Singh, Pawandeep’s driver, and his friend Ajay Mehra. Each of the three suffered severe injuries. According to preliminary investigation, the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the collision. A top police officer said, “Primary investigation indicate that the accident was caused by the driver, Rahul Singh, who reportedly dozed off at the wheel, causing the car to lose control.”
Pawandeep sustained a brain injury in addition to fractures in both legs. Later, he was transferred to Fortis Hospital in Noida, where the orthopaedics team is presently caring for him.
According to Shwetabh Bhaskar, the deputy superintendent of police, “both damaged vehicles have been seized, and further action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint.”
“The investigation is ongoing, with preliminary findings pointing to driver fatigue as the primary cause of the accident,” Akhilesh Pradhan, a house officer at the Gajraula police station, continued. In Noida, Pawandeep, Ajay Mehra, and Rahul Singh’s conditions are still being closely monitored by medical professionals who are trying to stabilize them.
